PDFtypewriter PDF Printer Driver Help Files

Fonts and Colors Tab

Fonts and Colors Tab

1 . Embed Fonts Option Embed Fonts Option

Embed Fonts Option

Check this option to embed all fonts in the PDF file so that if the person viewing the PDF file does not have the font installed, the font will still appear correctly. This will only work with non-protected fonts (some commercial fonts will prohibit being embedded). Checking this option is highly recommended, especially when used in conjunction with subsetting.

2 . Subset Fonts Option Subset Fonts Option

Subset Fonts Option

Check this option to subset fonts which are not completely used in the file. This means, if only the characters A and B are used, only A and B from the font will be embedded. This helps to reduce file size and is recommended. The percentage is the percentage of the font used in the file and the font still being allowed to be subsetted instead of the entire font being embedded. For example, if this is set to 50%, if less than 50% of the characters in the font are used, the characters used will be the only characters embedded. If more than 50% of the characters in the font are used, the entire font will be embedded.

3 . Color Space Selection Color Space Selection

Color Space Selection

Select the color space which the PDF file should be created in. RGB, CMYK, and Grayscale can be selected. RGB usually creates the smallest PDF files and the fewest problems as it is the default for most Windows applications.

4 . CMYK Images Option CMYK Images Option

CMYK Images Option

Check this option to convert CMYK images to RGB. The colorspace of images can be different than that of the file itself, checking this option will convert CMYK images to RBG. Doing this with some file types can cause errors, so it is not recommended at this time.
